About Me

Hello!

My name is Emily, and I'm a conservation biologist, science communicator, and all around nature lover.

I've always loved animals, and, while it took a while to figure out how I was going to do
it, I knew I was meant to help wildlife in some way. Growing up in an era of climate change and biodiversity loss, I've always wanted to find a way to make a difference in the environmental issues I've witnessed. From the minute I found out about the field of Conservation Biology in high school, I knew that was the path for me.

I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelors of Science in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology, a minor in Zoology, and a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance (yes, I'm a musician too!) in 2022.

I've learned that effective communication is integral to the success of conservation efforts, so I've made it my mission to help fellow scientists bridge that gap and better involve those outside of the field.

Now, I'm pursuing my Masters of Science in Life Sciences Communication at University of Wisconsin Madison to improve my communication skills.

Along the way, I've had a lot of adventures and amazing opportunities!

I play the flute

As I mentioned, I have a degree in music performance. I've been playing flute for 15 years, and have performed in a variety of settings on flute, piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute. Currently, I play with the Madison Flute Club in their adult ensembles.

I love attending concerts

I've attended a bunch of live concerts over the years all over Colorado, including multiple at Red Rocks. I jump on every opportunity I have to see my favorite artists in person.
